Carl Johnson, a native of Washington, D.C., relocated with his wife, Jei Johnson, to Lawrenceville, GA, in November 2015. In December of that year, they founded Soul Truckin Good, a business that began with modest beginnings but has grown significantly over the past decade.

The venture started on a street corner outside Stilettos Gentlemen’s Club, where Carl, Jessica, and Malcolm Heflin, a homeless gentleman they partnered with, worked tirelessly to get the business off the ground—with their combined efforts and the support of Carl’s Godfather, Derwin Colbert, Soul Truckin Good expanded to owning three food trucks and three trailers over 10 years of successful operation.

Beyond the food truck business, Carl is a dedicated husband to Jei and a proud father of four. He enjoys traveling, spending quality time with family and friends, and is an avid Washington Commanders (formerly Redskins) fan.
